Let's Ban Doctors, Cars, and Knives before We Ban AK-47s

Suddenly, Barack Obama wants to ban AK-47 “assault” weapons because they belong only on “the battlefield of war,” even though the LEGAL AK-47s in the U.S. are dressed-up 22-caliber semi-automatic rifles NOT used in war. New York's Nanny Mayor Mike Bloomberg wants America’s police to go on strike until the federal government adopts stricter gun laws, although I would expect that if his own security police went on strike he’d become a little nervous. Lanny Davis, former special counsel to Bill Clinton, told Sean Hannity on the radio Tuesday that the federal government should be tracking the purchase of weapons and ammunition to identify “disturbing trends” … you know, like being prepared for the country to fall apart or Barack Obama to join the UN in trying to ban weapons.

Let’s look at some facts about gun deaths in this country, facts the left-wing gun-grabbing fascists among us don’t include in their narrative -- because facts don’t fit what they hope to achieve.

Let’s start with James Holmes, who murdered 12 people and wounded 58 others during a shooting last Friday in Aurora, Colorado. James Holmes did not use an AK-47, Mr. President. He murdered and injured people using an AR-15 with a 100-round drum, a shotgun, and a semi-automatic pistol. The AR-15 Holmes used was legal; it was not an “assault” weapon because it was not fully automatic; it was a semi-automatic rifle. Obama would have Americans believe that any AK-47 or AR-15 stored at home in their gun cabinets is an illegal weapon; they’re not. The Clinton-era ban on “assault’ style weapons in this country sunset in 2004, but it is still illegal to own an AK-47 or AR-15 that has been modified to fully automatic fire. So any time Obama or anyone else on the left rants about “assault weapons” used on the “field of battle” roaming “the streets of this country” all by themselves, remember this: The semi-automatic weapons in this country are glorified .22s. You can fire off rounds from a semi-automatic “assault” style weapon just as quickly as you can a semi-automatic Glock handgun: BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO PULL THE TRIGGER EACH TIME YOU WANT THE WEAPON TO FIRE.

Here’s another fact the disingenuous left doesn’t want you to know about. Only about 1 percent, yes ONE PERCENT, of the gun deaths in this country can be attributed to the use of ALL TYPES of rifles and shotguns, let alone semi-automatic rifles, which the lapdog media and the fascist left will always refer to as “assault” weapons because the word gets stuck in your conscience.

You can see for yourself here among FBI statistics from 2006-2010.

While we’re on the subject of the numbers of gun deaths in this country. There were 12,996 homicides in 2010 that occurred when someone used a firearm to do the killing; 831 of those deaths occurred from the bullets fired from rifles and shotguns. Furthermore, murderers use “assault” style weapons so infrequently to kill  people, the FBI doesn’t even track them in a category separate from “rifles." In comparison, 1,704 people were killed in 2010 with knives, and 745 people were killed when someone beat them to death.

I guess that means that the police should go on strike until the federal government bans all kitchen knives, hands, fists, and feet. Can somebody please tell Mayor Nanny Bloomberg that the Supreme Court ruled 7 years ago that the police aren’t even required to protect people?

Let’s get further into the left's hypocrisy. In 1976, Washington, D.C., passed a total ban on guns within the limits of the District of Criminals, presumably to protect Curroptocrats from American gun owners fed-up with their raping of this country; 14 years later, murders in D.C. had skyrocketed. Naturally, after the gun ban was lifted in 2008, murder rates dropped 25 percent.

You won’t hear that in the left’s narrative. And I don’t even need to go into the left ignoring murder rates in Obama’s Chicago backyard, where some of the strictest gun controls in the nation violate the 2nd Amendment. All you need to do is watch the nightly news.

I also won’t go into the number of illegal guns used to commit most murders (estimates indicated about 80 percent); all you need to do is read anything about Fast and Furious and the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Yes. The federal government did build that.

So let’s get to the heart of what really kills far more Americans every year than any nutcase wielding any type of gun. Numerous medical organizations estimate that medical mistakes kill nearly 300,000 people every year, though that figure may be closer to 500,000. Meanwhile, 32,310 people died on the highways last year (you know, the roads Obama built so your small business could become successful) in motorcycle and automobile accidents -- almost 20,000 more people than those dying at the hands of a murderer firing a gun.

All of which means, I would be far safer if I never went to the doctor or drove to work. So, Mr. President, I’ll be keeping my AK-47 until you come for it. And Nanny Bloomberg? When you pry my weapon from cold dead hand, make sure you don’t spill the Big Gulp in my other hand.

UPDATED: Aaron Worthing (Walker) Was Swatted, Tells What Happened

In yet another SWATing event, @aaronworthing (Walker) reported on Twitter tonight that he was swatted:

Presumably over this:
I am free once again to do something very simple.  I am allowed to say the name Brett Kimberlin again.  The fact I was not allowed to do so, even in a post directed to the world at large and rather than any communication directed to Kimberlin himself, is a sign that things have gone horribly wrong in the Maryland legal system.  But more on that later.
This is the umpteenth time a conservative blogger has had something similar happen, from Patterico, to Stacy McCain, to Worthing, to et al. It's beyond ridiculous, and we're all beyond tired of it.

I assume Brett Kimberlin, the man "presumably" behind all of this, hasn't the balls to confront someone on his own property. That's actually probably the only smart thing Kimberlin, a serial criminal, has ever done.

More to come as it develops.

For realtime updates on what the twittersphere has to say, see Twitchy. Stacy McCain and IOTW and American Power and Joe Brooks and Nice Deb and Conservative Hideout and Bob Belvedere and Legal Insurrection are following this story too...

UPDATE: Patterico says the following:

I just got off the phone with Aaron and he and his wife are a little shaken up but OK. The officers had machine guns but did not point them at Aaron. They were quickly able to determine it was a hoax.
Aaron plans to post about it later.
UPDATE II: Aaron wasn't particularly gloating about the court decision today; he was ecstatic that he could finally speak freely, you know, exercising his right to the First Amendment that was unconstitutionally denied by a geezer judge who didn't know what Twitter was. More to follow when Twitter stops being it's usually buggy self.

About the most "egregious" thing Aaron did today was post this video from Braveheart's William Wallace screaming FREEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOMMMMMM! That's definitely fodder for SWATting, no?

UPDATE III: Aaron's checked in:
UPDATE IV: Make sure you check out the curiously titled post at BreitbartUnmasked, which is tied to Kimberlin, (though I loathe to link), "To Swat Or Not Swat That Is The Question.

UPDATE V: Erick Erickson (who was also swatted), weighs in. Plus, a look at Brett Kimberlin's protector (from the ORIGINAL Velvet Undeground, the name of Kimberlin's political activist organization:
UPDATE VI: I've been watching all of the Kimberlin goons on Twitter for weeks ... tonight, despite their normal vociferous badgering of any number of conservatives (and conspicuously) each other, they've gone dark:
UPDATE VII: Predictably, there's still no word on when Congress will address this swatting issue, despite numerous calls from DC lifers, from Saxby Chambliss to 85 members of Congress, to investigate and stop this heinous practice. But, hey, that was two weeks ago. Eric Holder, the man they want to investigate swatting, is the prize right now (and for good reason).

UPDATE VIII: Visit The Trenches for some of the best inside reporting on the ongoing, bizarre, convoluted Kimberlin story (it's a link to the site, because there are far too many posts to which to link).

UPDATE IX: Breitbart has contacted the Prince William County, Virginia, PD regarding the incident, confirming Worthing (Walker) was swatted.

UPDATE X: Kimberlin lackey @OccupyRebellion finally surfaced. Keep checking its timeline for more misinformation.

So anyone following along on twitter know the basics.  I was SWATted tonight.  My wife was down in the basement, and unknown to me she had fallen asleep in an uncomfortable position while watching TV.  I was just finishing up a post where I was going to share Kimberlin’s nutty response to my motion for a partial stay when someone decided to recklessly endanger my life.
I mean again.  Let’s not forget the last time someone intentionally engaged in conduct that they knew could get me and my wife killed.  In that case we know who the culprit was: Brett Kimberlin.  He intentionally and gratuitously revealed my real name, home address, work and work address, in court documents and then told the police in a letter that he believed because of his actions that “there exists the very real probability that Mr. Walker could be subjected to serious harm or death now that his identity has been exposed.”  And then he fought tooth and nail to keep that information from being sealed, and then fought to get them unsealed.
But tonight we don’t know who did it, although I knew who to tell the police to look at.  I won’t say their names here, of course.
I [was] writing when there was a knock at the door.  A second knock came and it was very insistent.  I went to the door and looked through the peep hole and there was nothing.  I said something like, “hello?” and someone firmly said, “open the door!”
I opened up to find two cops hugging the front of the house.  They had M4’s as I recognized from video games (see?! They are good for something!) and they later confirmed.  They were not pointed at my face like it had been with Patrick.  They were pointed at the ground.
(When I told my mother that, she said not to minimize it.  No, obviously whoever it was doing their best to get me killed.  Fortunately the police were not so easily tricked.)
UPDATE XII: Congresswoman Sandy Adams (R), FL-24, has released a statement on this latest swatting
With the increase in these dangerous incidents, it is clear that our citizens and law enforcement officers are at risk. I hope Attorney General Holder seriously considers the letter my colleagues and I sent him asking the Department of Justice to investigate these incidents and prosecute the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law.

The President MUST Be Involved in an Issue to Invoke Executive Privilege

By now, you probably know that President Barack Obama invoked executive privilege to stall Congress' attempt to get Attorney General Eric Holder to fork over documents in the Fast and Furious Scandal.

You probably also know, by now, that Obama explicitly spoke out against executive privilege before he was president, saying "the American people need to know what's going on," in yet another classic "do as I say, not as I do" moment brought to you by the first dictator in the history of the United States.

But did you know the president has to be involved in a situation in order to invoke executive privilege?

From the files of Congress:
Under those precedents, the privilege, which is constitutionally rooted, could be invoked by the President when asked to produce documents or other materials or information that reflect presidential decisionmaking and deliberations that he believes should remain confidential.
Note the emphasized language, and the grammar of the sentence that leaves no doubt that the president MUST be involved in whatever issue for which he invokes executive privilege: "when asked to produce documents or other materials or information that reflect PRESIDENTIAL DECISIONMAKING AND DELIBERATIONS.

You won't hear this from the lapdog media. But, hey, I'm just a blogger.

So, what we have here, then, is the president not only protecting Holder, he's also protecting himself.

Meanwhile, over at Think Regress (see comments), the left  is rejoicing about the president's actions, once again, as leftists do, defending the indefensible.

I wonder how the president's new 800,000 voters feel about him covering up information about the murder of Mexicans.

UPDATE: Not only is the president apparently involved in F&F, he's illegitimately using executive privilege to shield wrong doing.

UPDATE II: Breitbart is saying this is deliberative process privilege, rooted in common law not the Constitution, and therefore Obama didn't invoke EP to protect himself.

UPDATE III: But Judge Napolitano says the implication the president is involved is in his actions of claiming executive privilege. H/T: YouViewed

My, how tolerant these folks are of FreedomWorks and us teabaggers. (Please excuse my pseudonews kick this week; I just feel compelled to help expose what wonderful people we share this country with.)
